Everything Passes

Everything passes.  It’s the one thing you can count on.  So no matter whether you feel depressed, anxious, angry, elated or blissful, it will pass.  And the next thing will arise and it will pass.  You may then notice that presence seems to remain as the context in which everything comes and goes.  You may try to hang your hat on that.  But even that will pass.  You will awaken even from that awakening. And if you see that this is the nature of life, an ever-changing river of experience, then you will never suffer again.  To suffer is to carry something over in time.  It is to falsely believe that you have captured this river in some way.  Suffering cannot happen when you see that everything passes.
