Meditative Musings of a Medical Student

Inhale.
Exhale.

As long as the Earth rotates,
to bless us with night and day,
the wheel of samsara continues to spin.

To forget and return back again,
our search is spent in vain.
Perhaps if one more desire is fulfilled,
then this itch might go away.

Fool!
Why would you settle
for the fickle flame of candlelight,
when the entire Sun is yours?
Surrender to the Universe;
Open your Eye to see
that you have always been more.
divine dance

stars swirl inside of me
and inside of you,
yet we seem
to forget this truth

you and i
are no different-
the lover and the beloved,
the hater and the hated,
what are we but the same
in this cosmos of consciousness?

wipe your tears!
for all past lives of men
have not been without evils

why do you think
jesus says,
father, forgive them
for they know not what they do?!

cast away your ego
and humbly accept
the past is in the past,
what do i do next?

expand your heart
sit still and observe
discover the divine
be willing to explore

so what do you choose,
would you rather meditate
or mourn?

For a thirst that cannot be quenched,
even poison invitingly tempts.
It’s like what the poet Rumi said.
You are a drop in the ocean
but also the ocean within a drop.
So when you search for satisfaction
outside of yourself,
you’ll always be parched.

when a thought arrives
be vigilant and attack
“to whom does this thought arise?”
the mind will respond “me”
and to that you should ask
“Who am I?”

silence will ensue
until the process repeats

This is what is known as self-inquiry.
