Webmaster Position & Application

Science and Nonduality (SAND) is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced, and values-aligned Webmaster to steward our digital presence across four interconnected WordPress websites. This is a mission-critical role ensuring our online platforms remain secure, accessible, fast, and infused with the spirit of SAND—curiosity, depth, and collective transformation. You will work closely with the designers, developers, data analysts and creative leads to ensure our digital infrastructure supports all aspects of the organization, from film distribution to online learning, events, and community engagement.

  • Remote work with timezone preference: availability to respond within a few hours during US West Coast business hours
  • Part-time independent contractor
  • Flat monthly retainer
  • ~20 hours per week on average (some flexibility; hours increase during event launches and decrease during quieter periods)

Key Responsibilities

1. Content Publishing & Maintenance

  • Manage website content updates for films, events, articles, videos, courses, and online offerings across all SAND websites using WordPress, Elementor and Gutenberg Blocks.
  • Publish and organize multimedia assets, such as videos, audio files, and graphics, to ensure they display optimally on both desktop and mobile devices.
  • Coordinate updates to event calendars, film pages, screening pages, and registration links to ensure all information is accurate and timely.
  • Maintain site design integrity by arranging Elementor sections and Gutenberg blocks according to established brand aesthetics and UX patterns with design guides.
  • Maintain connections and integrations with Kajabi.

2. Technical Upkeep & Security

  • Monitor and implement updates for WordPress core, themes, plugins, and third-party tools, ensuring site security and stability.
  • Proactively resolve performance issues, such as slow load times or image bloat, using caching strategies, CDN integration (Cloudflare), and media optimization.
  • Track and respond to uptime and security alerts through hosting dashboards or third-party tools, minimizing disruptions and ensuring reliable access.
  • Set up products and payment workflows in ThriveCart.
  • Monitor server performance and work with the hosting company’s technical support when needed it.
  • Monitor and report on website analytics (Google Analytics). 

3. Collaboration & Workflow

  • Work with the Data Analyst to integrate and manage analytics, Cloudflare configurations, and backend system integrations for user data and email flows.
  • Coordinate with the development team on new features such as custom post types, registration systems, API integrations, and staging-to-live workflows.
  • Translate designer mockups and creative direction into live web experiences—adding new sections, landing pages, and layouts using Elementor and Gutenberg.

4. Quality Assurance & Reporting

  • Test all site changes thoroughly in staging environments before moving them to production to prevent errors and disruptions.
  • Audit site performance regularly for accessibility compliance, SEO integrity, and Core Web Vitals benchmarks.
  • Ensure media assets are optimized, balancing visual clarity with fast load times for better user experience.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum five years of professional experience managing WordPress websites, including design implementation, security maintenance, and plugin management in a production environment.
  • WordPress & Elementor Expertise: Significant experience managing complex, multi-site WordPress installations.
  • Proficiency in Relevant Tools: ThriveCart, Kajabi, ActiveCampaign, Gravity Forms, TablePress, Zapier, Trello, Cloudflare.
  • Technical Fluency: PHP, HTML/CSS, basic JavaScript, MySQL, DNS/CDN troubleshooting.
  • Content Management: Ability to translate Google Docs, Sheets, and design files into styled, functional web content.
  • Analytics & SEO: Skilled in Google Analytics, Search Console, and related tools.
  • Basic Design: Comfortable cropping, compressing, and optimizing images; familiar with YouTube Studio.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong QA habits—catching broken links, formatting issues, and inconsistencies.
  • Communication: Responsive, clear communicator able to coordinate across remote teams and time zones.
  • Values Alignment: Familiarity with or interest in spirituality, wellness, social justice, or nonprofit work.
