Perception depends not only on signals from our surround but the way we process those signals through our core stories about our world. Secular societies gave science the mandate to tell us how to perceive nature—who we are in what kind of world. But the story science gave us has landed us in a heap of crises that seem insurmountable! Fortunately, science itself is changing its stories about the nature of perception and its (far more inclusive) perception of nature in ways that give us hope not only for solving those crises, but for co-creating the world we really want, the world that works well for all life.
